If someone does wrong to you and you do good to them, show kindness, then you gain double benefit. Someone is opposing you. You are thinking of their good. How could such a thought arise without God's grace? But if someone harms us and we do good for them. This is greater service to others and the highest form of charity. This is beautiful divinity. Divinity is in humanity. But this is difficult to do. One who insults us, slanders us, and we do good for them — if we are truly charitable, we should not fear.

Once we met a doctor in a mental hospital. We asked him: aren't the mentally ill just insane? They sometimes tried to attack him. He said his head was split open one or two times. We asked, didn't you get angry? He said, not at all. We asked why? He said, we know they are mentally ill. Our duty is to help them get better. He said, I feel no anger at all.
