There was a devotee who was a farmer. Usually, such fame comes to accomplished saints, to siddha mahatmas who fulfill people's desires. This kind of fame doesn't work that way in the world. So he continued doing seva like that for a year. Then one day he was called and told: Son, today I will give you such a thing whose value cannot be compared to the three worlds. You will become very wealthy. Go and bathe in the Ganges and come back. On hearing this, he became very pleased, thinking he would become very wealthy. He came back after bathing and sat down. The guru said: Tell no one about this. This is very secret. It is supremely glorious. Do naam jap—keep repeating Ram, Ram.

But the moment he heard this, he thought... meaning, he became dejected and left. The cowherd boys said: "Brother, Ram, Ram! Are you coming from some saint or God's place?" He replied: "Ram, Ram."
