There is no lack of money, but the mind is very restless and life remains turbulent.
At Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj in Vrindavan—intimate conversation with Pujya Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj. Sadhaks ask questions about their life and sadhana, and Maharaj Ji provides solutions.
The Complete Discourse
Doctor Pramod Kumar Ji, Radhe Radhe, Radhe Radhe, Maharaj Ji. Maharaj Ji, I am a CEO at a multinational company, Maharaj Ji. There is no financial difficulty at all, but the mind remains very restless. Life remains very turbulent, Maharaj Ji.
Until the soul finds no welfare, the mind finds no rest. When the soul does not practice bhajan of Ram, sorrow dwells, forsake desire. Until then, the jiva's mind will not find peace—whether money comes, a beautiful wife comes, a fine house comes, a luxury car comes, everything is arranged. But what the mind needs is unbroken and eternal happiness.
That comes from God. Until you connect the mind to God, you will not find peace. I have completed 100 circumambulations of Govardhan. But look—is the mind circumambulating or just the body? The body is circumambulating while the mind is contemplating the world. Pay attention to our words. The body is circumambulating and where is the mind contemplating? The world. Don't do a single circumambulation at all. Instead, wherever your beloved, the beloved Lord, Siya Ram Ji is—attach the mind there. And if peace doesn't come, tell us. The mind is contemplating the world.
I complete the circumambulation in four hours, or even six hours. I complete the circumambulation, I drink cold water, I contemplate the world. So where has the inner filth gone? A snake is sitting inside its hole, and you are beating it with a stick from above—does it make any difference? We have to reform ourselves from within. The reform will come from naam. Believe our words. Practice naam jap and see. You will be called brave. Through naam jap alone will the bonds of the world be cut.
कलयुग केवल नाम अधारा सुमिर सुमिर नर उतरे पारा
In Kali Yuga, only naam is the support. Meditating, meditating, the person crosses over.
Now begin practicing naam jap. Look, then how you will experience the intoxication of joy. You don't drink beer, cigarettes, alcohol, or meat, right? Yes, so you are a good person, far removed from all that, right? Absolutely correct. Now do naam jap—peace will surely come. Our prayer is that whoever comes to us should at least give up drinking alcohol. People are becoming like demons, going from bad to worse. Give up completely impure food. Abandon impure diet. Purify the beverages. Purify your conduct. Come, see—joy will come.
If you are connected to God, you can remain joyful. God is such a provider. Understand this: the sustenance of infinite universes is happening through God's mere intention. So why can't we be happy? If we are connected to God, we will be happy. Practice naam jap abundantly. Yes, does it never occur to your mind to pray to the Lord for this body and vehicle? No, no. From the Lord, my only prayer is this: that I may never forget You and may never become separated from You. This is the only fear—that somehow Your overwhelming maya may not separate me from You. And my only desire is this—that I may never forget You.
Just this and nothing else. May I never forget You. And there is this fear: You have powerful maya. May its influence not somehow separate me from You. Just these two things remain within us all the time. One fear: may I never forsake the Lord, may I not accept anyone else, may I not become attached to maya, and may I never forget the Lord. Just this remains and nothing else. It is in jest that from childhood they have abandoned food and drink. Now seeing them, the mind might feel some longing.
When the mind attains supreme happiness, it does not contemplate, it does not desire. The self absorbed in Brahman, joyful—does not contemplate, does not desire.
न सोचति न काक्षति ब्रह्म भूता प्रसन्न आत्मा न सोचति नकाक्षत
The self absorbed in Brahman, joyful—it does not contemplate, it does not desire.
There is no desire left like this—that this enjoyment should be mine, or this object should be mine, or this position should be mine. Now, by God's grace, there is no such aspiration. Just this one thing remains throughout the day: may I never forget the Lord, may I never turn away from the Lord. Just this one thing remains—every moment, every second, remain connected to the Lord.
