One day, Karna used to worship Lord Surya from morning till noon. In the early morning, he would go and stand in the Ganga. As the sun moved, when it came to a particular direction, he would bow and move with it. At that time, if anyone asked for anything, it was Karna's vow to grant it. At that very moment, Mother Kunti came from behind him. He asked, "Who are you, Devi?" When the sun had moved away and the shadow came, he said, "Who are you, Devi?" She came forward and bowed. "Your Majesty," she said. He replied, "You are not just my mother-in-law; I know that you are my mother too."
"I know, but why have you come to tell me this today, only after our war has been decided? I know you are my mother. What do you want?"
