Someone was sitting drinking alcohol and was skilled in mockery. A sant came from there. And the intoxication that saints have—what does he know of it? He must have had a peg, drunk half a liter. Saints have drunk divine bliss. They move in joy. So he said, "Oh brother, have a little drink." This person has been walking around talking his whole life. He came close and said, "Son, I am reading your fortune—you will die in seven days." He set down his glass. He is a sant. Their intoxication is a different kind of intoxication. He said, "Son, I say with God as witness: our words are not false."
In seven days, it came to pass. Maharaj said, "Son, there is a way. If you begin to chant 'Govind Govind Govind Govind' like this, you will not suffer. You will attain God. And if you can, do not drink alcohol. In seven days you will certainly die anyway." He said he would never drink again. He went home, spoke to no one. In his room: Govind. Eating and drinking—death comes anyway. Seven days of "Govind Govind Govind." On the seventh day, the sant and God arrived. His tears were flowing. Govind. He said, "Maharaj, how many hours are left for me to die?"
He said, "For seven days, you have not drunk?"
He said, "No, I have not drunk anything, nor eaten anything. Just 'Govind Govind Govind.'"
Then he said, "Son, you have become immortal. Now you will not die. The body will fall away on some day within seven days. From Sunday to Sunday is seven days—you will die on one of these days. Now you have become immortal. You were asking me to have a little drink. So I put a little of mine on you. It has taken hold of you, friend. Day and night chant Govind—do not make a mistake."
