The grace of saints manifests in many ways. One is the grace that comes from being near them, and another is the grace that comes from listening. So their health was very poor. The body was about to go. They became peaceful and completely immersed in the contemplation of God, and when they prayed, then reaching into their heart in the form of remembrance, through resolve, through vision, through speech, through touch—in any way whatsoever—the saints accomplish their welfare. Your remembrance of the saint may not happen, but if the saint's remembrance turns toward you, then remembrance of God will arise in your heart. This is the glory of it: in the final moments, either there is abundant association with saints and service to saints, or else there is steadfast bhajan.

One who serves the saint does not need to do bhajan separately. Their welfare is accomplished through that itself. Now, those who are engaged in service with such one-pointedness that naam jap is not happening—that is their contract. They are under contract. It is not that you, brother, were swinging a hammer or a spade, so that is your contract. That is under the contract of grace. Their welfare is certain. The one with the mala can make mistakes. That one cannot. Because they have surrendered their life in obedience.
